Study Hawaii delegation members promote Hawaii at the 2014 China Education Expo.

The 2014 China Education Expo in Beijing, China, was the second stop of the Study Hawaii Education Mission. Organized by the Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism (DBEDT) in partnership with the Study Hawaii Educational Consortium, the mission promoted the State of Hawaii as the ideal destination for Chinese students seeking an international education.  Hawaii was one of the anchor exhibitors in the U.S.A. Pavilion at the Expo, which was visited by over 60,000 people over October 25th and 26th. Over 600 schools from 40 countries and regions were represented at the China National Convention Center.

In addition to participating in the China Education Expo, DBEDT hosted these key events:

  • A roundtable discussion involving high school and college counselors, education agents and our delegation members.
  • A lively meeting with representatives from the U.S. Commercial Service – Beijing and Education USA.
  • A Study Hawaii seminar where Chinese schools and education agents could meet individually with Hawaii delegation members to learn more about specific programs tailored for Chinese students.
  • Site visits to the Beijing New Talent Academy and the Communications University of China to explore partnering opportunities that would direct Chinese high school and college students to study in Hawaii.
