DBEDT & HPEC logosThe Business Of Exporting Program, presented by DBEDT and Hawaii Pacific Export Council (HPEC), has progressed well since it launched in October, 2014. There have been two large presentation lectures (also open to the general public for a fee), as well as smaller-sized, more focused breakout sections. Please see the details here for the upcoming January 29, 2015 large presentation, Managing Export Industry Costs: What Are The Advantages?

Heading into the midway portion of the program, the participating companies are finalizing their detailed export objectives for their respective strategies. A key deliverable is the preparation of a financial prospectus by the end of April, so to support them in this effort, we have adjusted the original schedule of presentations and have organized a hands-on workshop for participants in February. Joe Burns, the Oahu Center Director for the Hawaii Small Business Development Center (HISBDC) will lead the workshop that will assist participants individually. The objective of the financial prospectus is to enable participants to gain access to potential funding at the funding fair scheduled at the end of April. Banks, venture capital firms and credit unions will be in attendance.

A closing event is being planned for May, the International Trade month, in recognition of the participants and supporters of The Business Of Exporting program, and to continue to build awareness of the vital part exporting plays for Hawaii’s economy.
