Face masks will not be required from Saturday, September 17, 2022, but still strongly encouraged
University of Hawaiʻi President David Lassner announced on Friday, September 9, 2022, that face masks will no longer be required on UH campuses after Friday, September 16. The decision by UH leadership is based on the recommendation of UH medical and public health experts as well as the latest federal and state guidance. It recognizes that the rate of COVID-19 community transmission is no longer disrupting daily life and that most of the infections that are still occurring are not life-threatening and are not resulting in hospitalizations. However, we should still respect the choices of every individual to wear a face mask as we want to keep everyone safe and feeling secure on our campuses. In addition, masking is still strongly encouraged in crowded indoor spaces.
Refreshments will not be offered for sale
The college is unable to offer refreshments for sale. However, there are vending machines that sell bottled water, soda, juice, and energy drinks.
