DBEDT Promotes Hawaii to Representatives of Aomori Prefecture, Japan

The Aomori delegation’s visit to Hawaii was sponsored by the Aomori Prefectural Government. Attendees were interested in learning about how the state government of Hawaii assists small and medium size enterprises (SME).
Milton Kwock of the Business Development & Support Division (BDSD) introduced BDSD’s export promotion and international relations programs. Kwock also presented information regarding the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) funding support of the Hawaii State Trade Expansion Program (HiSTEP) which allows BDSD to assist SMEs interested in exporting Hawaii products and services overseas.
The discussion also focused on programs of the Foreign Trade Zone and Hawaii’s Clean Energy Initiative. Study Hawaii’s Vice-President, Joel Weaver, introduced the diverse educational offerings available in the state of Hawaii for Aomori Prefecture to consider for future study abroad and educational training opportunities.
