DBEDT Welcomes Okinawa Vice-Governor Yoshihisa Kawakami to Hawaii

To begin planning for the auspicious occasion, the Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism (DBEDT) staff including Deputy Director Mary Alice Evans and Administrator Dennis Ling welcomed Vice-Governor Yoshihisa Kawakami and his delegation and officials of the Hawaii United Okinawa Association (HUOA) to Hawaii on August 29, 2014.
“Hawaii and Okinawa have undertaken many economic and cultural exchanges over the years and DBEDT looks forward to planning events in Hawaii and Okinawa in 2015 that further strengthens the friendship between our regions and moreover, develop new business and education related initiatives to enhance the prosperity of our island communities,” said Evans.
DBEDT and HUOA, in collaboration with Okinawa Prefecture will begin discussing programs for the 2015 celebration.
