Posted on Jul 1, 2014 in Exporting, NewsThe annual BIO International Convention, which took place last week in San Diego was a huge success for the Hawaii companies. DBEDT’s Business Development and Support Division (BDSD) organized a Hawaii Pavilion with six of Hawaii’s leading innovative life science companies: Hawaii Biotech, Pono Pharma, Cardax, Tissue Genesis, HNU-Nanopoint, and Eyegenix. Also participating were the High Technology Development Corporation (HTDC), the Maui Economic Development Board, the UH Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation and the UH Office of Technology Transfer and Economic Development (OTTED).
The Hawaii firms held hundreds of partnering meetings during the show, many of which were held in the Hawaii Pavilion’s conferencing center. Some of the individual Hawaii companies held in excess of 50 partnering and business development meetings each during the 3-day conference, which could lead to millions of dollars in business for Hawaii in the coming year. The annual BIO International Convention attracts over 15,000 business leaders, scientists, executives, investors and industry leaders in the life sciences from over 60 countries.
