The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), State of Hawaii Department of Transportation and the Minority Business Development Agency of Honolulu Business Center are inviting small business owners who are interested in doing business with the federal, state and local government to sign up for the 11th annual SBA Business Development Series. Classes are FREE for small businesses interested in learning how to market themselves more effectively to federal, state, and local government entities (i.e. military and civilian agencies). Classes will cover a broad range of topics, including:
- Registering in the System for Award Management (SAM) to get paid on time
- Creating a capability statement to obtain contracts
- Becoming certified as an 8a and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise
- Demystifying labor and Equal Employment Opportunity compliance
- Obtaining bonding and financing to expand your business
- Pursuing subcontracting opportunities
This specialized training is limited to the first 35 qualified companies to sign up. The screening form must be completed to be considered for the class. You must be able to attend all sessions or have a representative from your firm attend. Full attendance is mandatory in order to receive a certificate of completion.
When
The orientation is on Thursday, March 14, 2019, and the first class will begin Tuesday, April 2, 2019.

After reviewing your screening form, you will receive a call from one of our Economic Development Specialists to confirm your registration.
Deadline
Your screening sheet must be received in our office no later than Monday, March 11, 2019 to be considered for enrollment.
Note: This training is only for serious businesses with an interest in competing in the government contracting arena.
